In-Range Progression

UAPD (Unit 1) and APC (Unit 4) IRP

An in-range progression (IRP) is a permanent salary increase within a salary range or salary step for single classification for employee groups who are eligible per the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

Criteria

An IRP request is based on one or more of the criteria identified per the applicable CBA. Specific criteria, as listed on the IRP Smartsheet Form, and additional information may be found under the salary article at:

UAPD IRP Submission Criteria:

  • Assigned application of enhanced skill
    • Memo is required
  • Equity
    • No supporting documents are required. HR will review and evaluate
  • Retention
    • Offer letter from internal or external employer

APC IRP Submission Criteria:

  • Increased responsibility and skills
    • Updated JD must be submitted via into JDXpert platform.
  • Extraordinary Performance
    • Most recent performance evaluations required.
  • Internal/External Equity
    • No supporting documents are required. HR will review and evaluate

IRP Request Procedures

IRP Request Procedures

Employee-Initiated Request

Teamster and APC employee shall submit an IRP request directly to HR.

Administrator (Supervisor)-Initiated Request

  • Please fill the IRP form (PDF) and attach to the In Range Progression .
  • Employees may submit IRP supporting document requests directly to HR if immediate appropriate administrator(supervisor) has not forwarded the request within 30 days.
  • Appropriate Administrator (supervisor) forwards IRP Request Form and any additional supporting documentation to next level administrator who will in turn review and forward the request to Compensation & Classification for review.
  • Compensation and Classification will review and provide recommendation to the division VP for approval and signatures.
  • Please fill the PDF IRP form and attach to the In Range Progression .
  • Appropriate Administrator (supervisor) forwards IRP Request Form and any additional supporting documentation to Compensation & Classification for review and signature.
  • Compensation and Classification will review and provide recommendation to the division VP for approval and signatures.

OTHER PROVISIONS

  • An employee shall not submit a request for an in-range progression prior to twelve (12) months following receipt of a response (Teamsters and APC) to any prior in-range progression requests, per applicable CBA.
  • Updated position description, identifying changes to the duties/responsibilities and the organizational need for those changes as related to the IRP criteria that was selected. description before submitting the IRP request to HR and with appropriate signatures.   • Copy of most recent performance evaluation, with all appropriate signatures.
  • Per applicable CBA, the decision regarding the award of an in-range progression shall be final and shall not be subject to: Grievance Procedure.
  • Where a teamster employee has been notified in writing that the employee’s in-range progression was denied solely due to a lack of funds, upon the employee’s request, the employee’s in-range progression application shall be re-evaluated in the following fiscal year.
