The Polytechnic Experience
Test textile strength, flammability and weather resistance with state-of-the-art equipment in our textile and garment testing lab. Study the physical and chemical properties of fibers and dyes, then test application methods. Experiment with innovative textiles, analyze their uses and determine their place in the current market. And do it all while evaluating sustainability in practices and processes.

The Textile Technology and Sustainability option equips students with expertise in fiber and fabric selection, digital design, and sustainable product innovation. This specialization focuses on integrating advanced textile technologies with sustainable practices to meet the growing demand for eco-friendly fashion solutions. You will engage in hands-on projects, such as working in digital design labs and garment construction facilities, and benefit from real-world experiences equivalent to two years of industry work. Located in Los Angeles County, a key fashion and textile hub, the program offers unique opportunities to develop and test sustainable textile innovations and participate in industry tradeshows. With a curriculum that combines technical skills with a strong emphasis on sustainability, graduates are prepared for roles in textile development, product design, and sustainability management.
