Priority registration is granted to student groups approved by the Academic Senate each term. Certain student groups receive priority registration based on mandated policy governed by federal and state regulations (e.g., military veterans, disability, foster youth, etc.)

During priority registration, the unit limit is as follows:

• Fall and Spring term limit is 16 units.
• Winter term limit is 6 units.
• Summer term limit is 12 units.

You are assigned a registration window based on your class standing level and based on units earned at the time of registration window assignment. Having a few more units than one person can mean possibly having an earlier registration time. Students are considered Freshmen earning 0-29 units, Sophomores earning 30-59 units, Juniors earning 60-89 units, and Seniors earning 90+ units. Please note: the registration days are spread out to ease the load on advising and reduce traffic and system errors in BroncoDirect.

Class standing is determined by your total earned units. Check your unofficial transcript to find how many total units you have earned (including CPP and Transfer Credits), then compare with the following: Freshmen: 0-29, Sophomores: 30-59, Juniors: 60-89, and Seniors: 90+.

Yes, after the General Registration period, you may have another opportunity to register during the Add/Drop period. Look for your Add/Drop registration window (date).

The Add/Drop period is when students register for up to 18 units (or more with a petition) and can freely drop classes without consequences. Each student will be assigned a registration window for the Add/Drop period. Refer to the Registration Guide for term registration.

When the Add/Drop ends and you want to add another class, request a Late Add. Note that a late add is not guaranteed. Justifications for the late add and approvals are required from the instructor and the Associate Dean. However, being added to the class is at the professor's discretion. Contact the Registrar's Office at registrar@cpp.edu for specific instructions on how to complete a Late Add Request.

A permission number may be used to enroll in a class or be placed on the waitlist. It depends on the situation. Permission numbers are given by either the department of the class you are trying to enroll in or the instructor teaching the class. When an error states you did not complete the requisite (prerequisite or co-requisite), visit the department. Go to the instructor if you need permission or instructor consent to enroll, or if the class is full. It is at the instructor's discretion to provide you with a permission number to override the seating capacity. You can add your permission number in BroncoDirect under your Student Center. Note: For instructions on how to add a permission number, please refer to the How to Use a Permission Number Guide.

You are permitted only to register for 16 units during General Registration, and 18 units during Add/Drop. However, if you want to take above 18 units, complete a Petition To Exceed Unit Cap which is found in the Academic Forms tab on the Registrar's Office page. The petition may only be submitted and processed during the Add/Drop period, and all approval signatures must be obtained. This includes your advisor, department chair, and dean's signatures. Note: You may need a permission number if the class is full or requires the instructor's consent.

If you want to enroll in two classes that may conflict or simultaneously occur, complete a Schedule Conflict Override Petition. This can be found under Academic Forms on the Registrar's Office website. The petition must be completed entirely to process the form. This includes both instructors' signatures and the department chair of the major. Note: You may need to obtain a permission number if the class(es) are full or requires the instructor's consent.

You may check your position on the waitlist by reviewing your Student Center in BroncoDirect. Find the list of your class schedule and locate the waitlisted class. The status of that class will say 'Waiting' and there will be a number under 'Waitlist Position'. This is what number you are on the waitlist. Note: For instructions on how to find your place on the waitlist, please refer to our guide.
