Civic Engagement
Connect. Contribute. Grow.
Civic Engagement at the Kellogg Honors College invites students to explore the world beyond the classroom. Through meaningful involvement in communities — on campus or beyond — students learn about real-world challenges, build connections, and gain a deeper appreciation for the impact they can make. It’s an opportunity to grow as engaged citizens and thoughtful leaders while building community within KHC.
Civic Engagement Outcomes
-
Get Involved with Communities
Make a difference locally or globally by connecting with communities on campus, across the state, or around the world.
-
Explore Real-World Issues
Gain insight into the challenges that shape your community and expand your understanding through hands-on learning.
-
Build Connections Within KHC
Collaborate with fellow Honors students and strengthen the sense of belonging that defines the KHC experience.
Civic Engagement Requirements
Meeting Your CE Requirement
KHC students must complete the following CE credits by the end of spring semester of every academic year. Requirements are based on how students were admitted to the KHC. Civic Engagement is not required for students graduating mid-year and enrolled in fewer than 24 units in their final year.
How to Earn Civic Engagement Credit
Missing or Extra Credits
Students who do not complete the full number of required CE credits will be dismissed from the KHC or required to make-up the missing credits the following year. Students who complete more than the minimum CE credits may rollover extra credits toward next year's requirements, but students must complete at least 1 CE credit every year regardless of rollover credits.
