Step 5: Being in Your New Major
When your major and catalog year have been updated on your academic record, you’ll notice it in a few places:
- At the top of your , and in the Major Requirements section of your DPR
- In your unofficial transcript, beginning in the term your change of major was approved
- In your My Academics tab in your
You will also begin to receive department-specific communication, and new college-specific emails if you switch colleges. Here are some things to keep in mind with your new major:
Know where to find your new curriculum sheet.
Find it on the curriculum sheet website. Remember to look for the year you switched majors, not the year you came to 博88亚洲.
Know who your new advisor is.
Your assigned advisor will change when your major officially changes.
Know about any specific department requirements.
For example, your new department might require permission numbers for specific courses. Ask your academic advisor if you have any questions.
Get involved in new clubs and organizations within your major.
Your classmates might know of opportunities, but you can always check for an updated list of chartered clubs.
Start thinking about your future career path.
This might include graduate school, internships and research opportunities. Check out the resources, and look on for part-time jobs. The Career Center and your faculty advisor may have some advice on how to build your resume.
Continue to use your Student Success Central planning tools.
You should continue to take advantage of all of the tools in your planning toolbox.
Consider taking summer courses to catch up.
Your new department’s summer offerings might help you complete courses faster.
If you鈥檝e taken a course that isn鈥檛 in your new curriculum, ask your advisor about how it goes toward your degree.
It may count for one of your requirements or go towards unrestricted electives.
