Business Services Student Leader Position Description

Compensation: $16/hr

Department Overview:
University Housing Services is a residential community with 12 buildings. The department is made up of three areas: Residence Life, Facilities, and Business Services.

The Business Services Student Leader (BSSL) is the first point of contact for residents, parents, and future Cal Poly students.

Qualifications:
Excellent people/customer service skills; ability to answer phones and greet public; basic computer skills desired; word processing and spreadsheet experience preferred. Must be able to lift and carry all mail packages up to 20lbs. Must be punctual and report to work as scheduled.

Job Description:

Maintain knowledge of processes and procedures related to University Housing Services
Reception duties- greet guests entering into Housing buildings; provide information regarding UHS policies and regulations; provide information regarding the application process and status; create a welcoming space for residents and visitors.
Daily interaction with students, parents/guardians, faculty, staff and administrators
Provide tours of residence halls or suites
Prepare and distribute on-campus and off-campus mail/packages
Assist with deliveries and pick-ups to on campus departments
Enter data into StarRez (student housing data base)
Answer telephones, take messages
Maintain confidential files
Special projects assigned
Available for special events (weekends)

Conference Services Aide

Conference Services Aides work with our Conference Team over summer to assist our Summer Conference guests. Learn more about the position and apply below.

Conference Services Aide Position Description

Compensation: $16.50/hr starting January 2025. All Conference Aides will receive a room and board package for the summer (May 17, 2025 - August 9, 2025) in addition to their hourly wage.

Job description

Duties & Responsibilities The Conference Aide will be responsible for the prepping of building for guests’ arrival. They will also conduct check ins and check outs of those guests. They will be required to work front desk, linen, and any other miscellaneous shifts. The Conference Aide position will be from the end of Spring 2025 to the end of Summer 2025. The Conference Aide must be able to provide great customer service to clients while meeting deadlines, work well under pressure, and act as a liaison between the client and University for all the client needs. All interested parties MUST be available for all MANDATORY Conference Services trainings that will be held on: Friday, 4/25/2025 from 10:00am – 2:00pm and Monday, 5/19/2025 – Friday, 5/23/2025 from 8:00am-5:00pm.

Requirements & Qualifications Student must be currently enrolled full time at ��88��. Must be in good standings with the University and Judicial Affairs and have at least a 2.0 GPA. During the summer months, this position is a 20-hours a week position. The Conference Aide position is required to live on campus during the summer months. In addition, student must have excellent verbal communication as well as customer service skills. Must be able to lift 15 pounds and stand for a long period of time. A background check must satisfactorily be completed before a candidate can be offered this position. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for this position. The background check consists of the following: Employment verification, education verification, reference checks, and checks of the following systems and databases: National Social Security Number/Address Locator, Felony/Misdemeanor, National Criminal Database, Federal Criminal, Department of Motor Vehicles, and National Sex Offender Registry. Housing Technology Support Position Description

Compensation: $16/hr

Job description

The Housing Technology Support works with the Information System Specialist and the Housing Technology team to provide service to University Housing Services staff and University Housing residents.

The Housing Technology Support is responsible for:

Providing first level of support to residents and staff
Repairing and maintaining desktops, laptops, and printers
Performing routine maintenance
Updating and upgrading equipment as needed
Installing and troubleshooting printers
Troubleshooting and diagnosing concerns of the internet and email
Maintaining Microsoft Office products
Preventing spam and pop-ups
Testing and evaluating existing network systems
Changing network user accounts
Troubleshooting local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs)

Qualifications:

Possess a California Driver’s License
1. Maintain a clean driving record verified by submitting a California Department of Motor Vehicle Driver History Report
2. Complete Defensive Driver Training
Be proficient in:
1. Internet troubleshooting with regard to Ethernet cables or wireless access;

Marketing - Graphic Designer

Marketing - Graphic Designer Position Description

Compensation: $16.50/hr

Job description

Employment in the Marketing department also involves projects for Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) and University Police Department (UPD). Both PTS and UPD operates all parking related services including fees, regulations, the Cal Poly Rideshare program, and Bronco Express shuttle service.

The graphic designer and the web design/development team is led by the Marketing Coordinator. The team designs, prepares, and prints materials related to the marketing needs of UHS, PTS, and UPD.

Primary duties of the Graphic Designer include but are not limited to:

Utilizing desktop design software to design and develop brochures, flyers, posters and other related materials;
Creating visual displays for campus events;
Designing promotional materials;
Assisting in special projects as assigned or needed

Qualifications:

Job Experience

Two years job related experience in Graphic Design;
Knowledge of accepted graphic art standards;
Digital portfolio (class work is acceptable to demonstrate skills and creativity);
Knowledge of interactive design principles, standards and theories;

Knowledge of Applications, Software, and Programs

Proficient with the Windows operating system;
Entry to intermediate proficiency in desktop publishing software programs such as: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, ImageReady, InDesign, Acrobat and Microsoft Office programs;
Knowledge of Dreamweaver, Flash and web-based media is desirable, but not required;

Professional Skills and Leadership Abilities

Ability to interface with a large number of professional staff and student employees in a shared space;

Program Assistant Position Description

Hourly Rate: $16.50

This position, along with its continued employment, is contingent upon the availability of funding, including work-study allocations, state appropriations, grant support, and other financial resources. It is also subject to compliance with current and future federal and state mandates.

Details

Plan, publicize, coordinate, and evaluate educational and social programs during the 2025-2026 academic year.
Create and market all events through the myBAR system. Enter all attendance into myBAR no later than 24 hours after the event has occurred.
Facilitate the set-up, clean-up, and tasks during assigned programs as directed by the designated Lead.
Collaborate with campus departments on the implementation of workshops and activities for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Publicize and implement Welcome Week 2025 events and initiatives.
Attend all Welcome Week programs and preparation times.

Transfer Thrive Student Ambassador

As a direct response to the needs of our Transfer students, University Housing Services (UHS) developed the Transfer Thrive program. Transfer Thrive is dedicated to serving Transfer students through a dynamic living learning community designed to support Transfer students in their academic, career, and personal growth. Transfer Thrive Student Ambassadors offer career, educational, and social programming and workshops. In addition, Transfer Thrive Student Ambassadors are responsible for outreaching and serving as peer mentors to Transfer residents to ensure they experience a sense of belonging and connection.

Position Experiences & Responsibilities:

Cultivate a welcoming and inclusive environment for Transfer residents and student staff to thrive.
Plan and lead workshops and events on topics related to career development, academic success, and personal wellness in partnership with campus partners.
Develop and implement passive programming initiatives that address the interests and needs of the Transfer Thrive community.
Create content and manage Transfer Thrive’s newsletter and/or social media.
Serve as a peer mentor by connecting with Transfer residents, encouraging involvement, and supporting their transition to campus life.

Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student, full or part-time for 2024 – 2025 school year
